Literacy Works

Literacy Works, is a literacy teaching and advocacy organization, with a focus on adult literacy. The organization offers direct tutoring, training for educators, and services for the community.

 

Given the mission of the organization, type that was clear and unpretentious was needed. Making sure the type would be easily read and understood was of high importance. The typeface was specifically designed with optical corrections in mind elevating its legibility and clarity. The rectangles work to create the illusion of books, a classic reference to literacy. They also create the visual separation of 'it" and 'works' in reference to the organizations success rate within the community. The colors were taken from the previous design, after trying out new combinations, these still felt most sucessful.
